Angling 2017

A beautiful sunny day at Tylers Common Fishery saw nine boroughs compete for the chance to be crowned London Youth Games Angling Champions 2017. Hillingdon soared to golden success after the team came together to end on an impressive final score of 22 points.

The day also saw 14 year old, James Pratten from Havering, celebrate his 14th birthday with parents in tow by his peg to support him.

The fishing commenced at 10.00 with the Juniors on Ash Lake. A close fought fish saw Maxwell Roscoe from Hillingdon (our youngest competitor at 9 years old!) rising above his competitors to be crowned the 2017 Angling Junior champion with a weigh in of 21.08 pounds. Maxwell was closely followed by Olivia from Greenwich (18.14) and Gabriel from Lambeth (16.15).

In the Senior competition, Callum Hutchins from Croydon certainly had the fish in his favour as he weighed in a very respectable 73.10 pounds. Zachary Harris from Lambeth had a great day fishing and at certain points during the competition looked to be the favourite to win as he weighed in a striking 67.10 pounds.  Hillingdon team mate Dominic Steward won bronze in the Senior competition weighing in at 35.10 pound helping to secure that impressive overall score for the borough.

With the fishing and weighing in coming to an end around 15.00 the 2017 Angling champions were announced as The London Borough of Hillingdon! Runners up were Greenwich followed by Croydon after a fantastic day of fishing. We thank all the boroughs for their efforts and to all those individuals that competed on the day. A great day of Angling all round!
