SECONDARY SCHOOLS: GamesForce Event Award (11+ volunteering award)

This award has been successfully delivered across all 33 London boroughs over the past 3 years with over 1 500 young people aged 14 - 18 achieving the award and giving back over 12 000 volunteering hours in a school, community setting and the Games.
This award is brilliant for upskilling young people in leadership and supporting the understanding of volunteering in sports events.
Course overview:

Delivered as a 4 hour (can be broken down into 2 x 2 hour units) training course in events volunteering focuses on developing the core skills and qualities required to help deliver sport events such as the London Youth Games as well as local school and community events.
Covering the roles and responsibilities of sports volunteers, the course is divided into 4 sections:
Understanding volunteering
What makes a good volunteer?
Developing my skills and knowledge of being an event volunteer
Reviewing, planning and progressing
We believe this course delivered well, will not only inspire more young people to volunteer but also mean they are better equipped to support both local and community events.
Our GamesForce Teams volunteering programme offers schools and colleges the opportunity to volunteer at the London Youth Games events across the year in teams of 6 and 1 adult.
