Badminton
Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world. A shuttlecock can reach a speed of up to 206mph - about the same speed as Lewis Hamilton's Formula One car!
The game is one of the most popular sports in the UK. It is also played across the world in particular in China and South East Asia, where it is often played outdoors.
Badminton at the London Youth Games is a team competition with a mixture of singles and doubles, including mixed doubles.
A top badminton player needs quick footwork and good hand eye co-ordination.

Competition Facts
- Badminton is a team competition with matches played in male and female singles and doubles and mixed doubles.
- Up to 10 players can be named on the day for each team.
- 8 teams will progress to the final stage.
