LYG Virtual Dance

We have teamed up with PERi-PERi legends (Nando’s ofc) and the dance OGs, HomeBros to bring you the ultimate Afro Beats dance challenge for the final week of our Virtual Dance competition.

 

The sounds of South Africa are just as much part of the Nando’s experience as their PERi-PERi sauce. Team Salut produced an Afro Beats banger especially for the Nando’s dance challenge – and we can’t wait to see your Extra Hot moves for this week’s dance off.

AFRO BEATS

This week dance style is Afro Beats! We have teamed up with Nando’s and HomeBros to bring you the ultimate Afro Beats dance challenge! 

 

HomeBros have created a special routine for you. There are four moves to learn – the Rotation, the DJ Step, the OJ Step and the Fagum. Once you’ve learnt the moves, try out their routine or create one of your own.

 

This dance challenge is for everyone. We want you to get involved and show us your moves. You can adapt the moves to suit your ability and mobility. Remember dance is all about having fun and keeping active!

The first dance style is Street/Hip Hop. Watch Jared’s tutorial video to learn some classic moves. Jared is going to teach you how to do the Butterfly, the Biz Markie, the Patty Duke and the V-Step. Once you’ve learnt the moves, try out Jared’s routine or create one of your own. 

 

LYG Virtual Dance is for everyone. Jared has included variations for the different moves and you can adapt his routine to suit your ability and mobility. Just make sure you have fun and add your own personality!

This week’s dance style is Bollywood. Gita is here to show you some classic moves. Gita is going to teach you how to do the Thumbka, the Pick Up Step, Rainbow Hands and Wipers. Once you’ve learnt the moves, try out Gita’s routine or create one of your own. 

 

Whatever your ability LYG Virtual Dance is for you. You can adapt Gita’s moves to suit your skill level and mobility. Remember dance is all about having fun and keeping active.

This week’s dance style is Latin. Watch M’s tutorial video to learn four Salsa dance steps. M is going to teach you how to do the Cucaracha, the Cumbia, the Jump Spin and the Forward and Back Step. Once you’ve learnt the moves, try out M’s routine or create one of your own.

 

Get involved in this week’s Latin dance challenge. You don’t have to have any previous dance experience. You can adapt the moves to suit your ability and mobility. Get creative, have fun and show us your moves.

How many catches can you complete in 60 seconds? You should try to include 4 different types of catches. 

 

If you don’t have an American football, you can use a football, a tennis ball or any other type of ball or object that you can safely catch with. If you don’t have a partner, you can throw the ball against a wall and see how many times you can catch it. Download the Challenge Sheet for suggested adaptations and coaching tips.

How many times can you catch and throw the ball between the markers in 30 seconds? Remember to concentrate on your footwork. 

 

You can use any type of ball for this challenge as long as it bounces. The markers should be laid out 3 metres apart. This challenge can be done indoors or outdoors. You can do this challenge with a partner. Try the variations in the video. Download the Challenge Sheet for suggested adaptations and coaching tips.

How many times can you bowl the ball into the target area? You have 10 attempts to bowl a ball, overarm or underarm, into a target area whilst trying to hit the stumps.

 

Each time the ball lands in the target area you get 1 point. Each time the ball hits the stumps you receive an additional 1 point. The maximum points that can be scored from one attempt is 2 points. The maximum points you can score overall is 20 points. Add up your points and submit your scores after 10 attempts. Download the Challenge Sheet for suggested adaptations and coaching tips.
