Sailing uses the wind acting on sails to propel a craft forward. The London Youth Games hosts a two-day sailing competition every year at Queen Mary’s Reservoir.
After the 1996 games in Atlanta, the sport of yachting was to be known as ‘sailing’ to coincide with the Federation name change from `International Yacht Racing Union (IYRU)’ to `International Sailing Federation (ISAF)’.
GET in touch to compete
To get involved in open competitions, you will need to contact the Borough Team Organiser (BTO) in your borough or via the LYG App where where you can register your interest.
Only a BTO or nominated Team Manager can enter a team into a competition. A borough can enter any number of Borough/ Open/ Schools competitions with a maximum of 1 team per competition.
