The Spa at Beckenham hosted this year’s ParaGames Swimming event, bringing together 103 young people from 13 London boroughs.

The event makes such a huge difference in the lives of both the children and their families, giving participants a chance to compete against other individuals facing similar challenges.

The event was supported by enthusiastic volunteers from law firm Boult, and software company Rosterfy, who created a welcoming and seamless experience for the participants.

One Bromley athlete shared how the event has played an important role in their personal development. They said: “Today has made me more confident. I’ve been very unconfident throughout my life, and this has made me more talkative and helped me make new friends.”

Bren Amooty, Haringey Team Manager shared what the event meant to their swimmers. “Our swimmers had an amazing time despite many being way outside their comfort zones. Many of our first-time swimmers were very anxious in the lead-up – but those who came all agreed that the day was a huge success and are very much hoping to be back next year. Being included in this event has meant a huge amount to their children’s confidence and self-esteem, especially as they hadn’t been selected or didn’t apply to race for our school team.”

The Mayor of Bromley attended to present medals and celebrate the event’s success – with the additional honour of presenting their home borough Bromley with their winning trophies.

Congratulations to the following teams:

Girls:

Gold: Bromley

Silver: Wandsworth

Bronze: Haringey

Boys:

Gold: Bromley

Silver: Croydon

Bronze: Richmond

Thank you to the officials who brilliantly supported the day, the BTO’s, Team Managers, School Staff and parents for their support in making the day special for the young swimmers.
