6,000 Young Londoners Compete and Celebrate at London Youth Games Finals Festival at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Last weekend, thousands of young people from across London came together to compete for their boroughs at some of the capital’s most iconic Olympic venues, as part of the London Youth Games (LYG) Finals Festival, Europe’s largest annual multi-sport youth event.
The thrilling Finals Festival 2025 marked the culmination of a season that saw over 160,000 young Londoners participate in 37 different sports throughout the year.
Highlights of the Finals Festival included competitive action across nine LYG sports, such as basketball, netball, volleyball, hockey, tennis, dance, and table tennis, all hosted within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
The festivities kicked off on Day 1 with a School Sport Festival, where young participants explored exciting activities like freestyle football, climbing, HADO e-sports, Boccia, wheelchair basketball, and pickleball.
Day 2 featured high-level competition in table tennis and hockey, while Day 3’s Community Festival brought cultural energy to the park with live performances on the festival stage and inclusive, family-friendly activities across the venue.
Elite and professional athletes lent their support to inspire young participants. These included Team GB basketball players Shanice Beckford-Norton and Savannah Wilkinson, England Roses U21 and London Mavericks netballer Kira Rothwell, European Cruiserweight Champion boxer Jordan Thompson, and former GB sprinter Marcus Adam.
Professor Geoff Thompson MBE, five-time world karate champion and Chair of LYG, said: “The Finals Festival 2025 demonstrated the power of London’s sporting and cultural ecosystem coming together to provide a memorable experience for young people. We continue to honour the legacy of the late Queen Elizabeth II and believe that sport is a fundamental human right for every young Londoner. We look forward to creating even more opportunities in the year ahead.”
