Countdown to LYG50 – 1977 to 2027

We’re kicking off the countdown to the 50th London Youth Games – our Golden Games – in 2027.

We want to mark this milestone with the biggest and most inclusive games yet and we need your help to shout about the power and potential of the London Youth Games.

The games were founded in 1977 in celebration of Queen Elizabeth II’s Silver Jubilee. Since then, over two million young Londoners have participated across all 32 boroughs and the City of London.

We need your support

Funding for youth and sports projects is under pressure, but we know every young Londoner deserves the chance to play and thrive.

We’re on a mission to raise £5 million from supporters and sponsors as we count down to the 50th London Youth Games in 2027.

Together, we can continue to create a vibrant and inclusive community and support life skills, mental and physical wellbeing through sport.

“As our 50th anniversary approaches, we want to celebrate our late monarch and the legacy of sporting participation of young Londoners.

The LYG50 campaign is about every young Londoner achieving their ambitions and life potential.

With this campaign, we will continue to engage all Londoners, working with the 32 Boroughs of London, the City of London and our supporters to help us meet the challenges that young people face in our communities today.

The countdown to 2027 will see a diverse, inclusive celebration and legacy opportunity for all.”
