FINAL EIGHTS DECIDED FOR PRESTIGIOUS CRICKET LORDS FINAL ON 3RD MARCH

Huge Congratulations to our eight male and female cricket teams qualifying into the London Youth Games Finals at Lords Cricket Ground on Sunday 3rd March 2019.

Kicking off with two days of intense male qualifiers at Harrow Leisure Centre that saw 25 boroughs battle it out for their all-important place in the Final.

However, only eight could be successful and the boroughs of Ealing, Richmond, Hackney, Bexley, Westminster, Greenwich, Hillingdon and Bromley secured their spots at Lords which takes part early next month.

The Bromley boys were able to battle against the other teams to guarantee their place but will it be enough to retain their 2018 title or will another borough get gold?

In the female competition, the qualifiers were split across two regional meets with 20 teams eager to mark their ground.

Congratulations to Bexley, Bromley, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Haringey, Redbridge, Richmond and Wandsworth for qualifying into the Finals. Haringey, Redbridge and Wandsworth qualified as the three best runners up due to their Net run-rate.

Hammersmith and Fulham confidently earned their place in the Finals and will look to once again go for gold following their successes in last years’ competition.

Congratulations to the Male Respect the Games Winners, Haringey. They “played well and showed good sportsmanship. Encouraging team management.” Westminster were awarded the Girls Cricket Qualifiers (West), Westminster so, a huge well done to them. They “showed amazing perseverance and passion maintaining a great attitude towards the game. Well Done!”

Thanks to Middlesex Cricket Club for their help and support in organising this hotly contested London Youth Games Open competition.

The draws have been made for the Finals at Lords and it is certainly all to play for on the day. Come down and support your boroughs. #Proudtobe
