Saturday’s flagship event of the London Youth Games Finals Festival marked the biggest day of the three-day festival, featuring three highly competitive sports alongside a vibrant community festival that brought an incredible atmosphere to the local area.
Bringing over 540 young participants and families together across two iconic Olympic legacy venues, the activities included:
The LYG Boys Hockey Competition engaged 200+ players at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, with players representing their boroughs across a series of fast-paced, competitive matches.

Nick Buddell, Bromley Boys Hockey Team Manager said: “I’m super proud. It’s the first time they’ve all played together as a team. There were some tough times during the day, but they all kept going, showed great resilience. We’re from Bromley, so sometimes we don’t always necessarily feel like part of London. It’s nice to see other boroughs and feel part of London. Hopefully today pushes them and gives them a new confidence.”
The LYG Table Tennis Competition saw 200+ young participants from 27 boroughs compete in a series of round-robin matches, consisting of doubles, 2v2 and 1v1 games, at the same venue.

Tomorrow will feature the exciting LYG Basketball Finals Competition at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, where the top four boys and girls teams will battle to be crowned London champions.
