Hundreds of young basketball players from across London came together at UEL SportsDock last weekend for two highly competitive days of basketball on 24-25 May 2025.

26 boys’ teams and 20 girls’ teams competed in round robin matches throughout the day, before moving into the knockout stages – with teams aiming to seal a place in the Finals Festival at the iconic Copper Box Arena.

The action-packed weekend saw 584 young people representing 26 boroughs featured, with the top four teams from each day progressing to the finals.

Congratulations to the semi-finalists who progress to the Finals Festival event on 6 July at the Copper Box Arena:

  • Boys: Newham, Kingston, Hounslow, Southwark
  • Girls: Richmond, Barking and Dagenham, Southwark, Croydon

Coach Klayden, Croydon Team Manager said: “I think it’s a good opportunity because girls don’t get enough screentime when it comes to basketball. This event allows them to have this competition is allowing them to meet other people, find out about other teams.”

The LYG Basketball Qualifiers and Finals are part of our commitment to create life-changing opportunities through sport and physical activity.

A big thank you to the BTO’s, Team Managers and officials who brilliantly supported the day.
