London Youth Games and Kevin Campbell Foundation Launch New Trophy and Award to Honour Kevin’s Legacy

Today, London Youth Games marks a key event in its new partnership with The Kevin Campbell Foundation, a collaboration dedicated to break down barriers and foster a lifelong love of football among young Londoners.
The collaborative event enables over 300 young players representing 27 London boroughs to proudly represent themselves, their boroughs and communities, at Tooting and Mitcham FC.
The occasion is especially poignant as it marks the first anniversary of the passing of Kevin Campbell, with this event building a legacy for Kevin that has a lasting impact.
The Kevin Campbell Foundation is a registered charity established by Kevin’s family to honour his commitment to supporting young people. The Foundation aims to support young people to participate in sporting and developmental activities, to empower and enable them to realise their full potential.
As part of the event, The Kevin Campbell Trophy will be awarded to the winners of the U15 Girls Football Borough competition. Too many girls are dropping out of sport and physical activity during their teenage years so working closely with The Kevin Campbell Foundation supports us in inspiring and enabling more young people to gain a positive experience of football that will continue to have a significant impact on young people’s physical health, mental health and social development.
Importantly, this Sunday will launch the new ‘Kevin Campbell Outstanding Achievement Award’ in Kevin’s name. This award is open to teammates, coaches and officials to nominate players who they feel embody the values of Overcoming Adversity, Teamwork and Sportsmanship.
The Founder and CEO of the Kevin Campbell Foundation, Kevin’s sister, Lorna Campbell said “We are honoured to be working in partnership with LYG, who share our ethos of the power of sport being able to change lives. We are proud to impact and extend the growth of women and girls participation in grassroots football.”
