LONDON YOUTH GAMES FIRST EVENT OF THE 2019 SEASON, CROSS COUNTRY, RETURNS ONCE MORE TO PARLIAMENT HILL

London’s most talented cross-country runners will be out in force when the highly anticipated London Youth Games (LYG) cross country event returns next weekend.

All 32 London boroughs and the City of London are set to take to the start-line at Hampstead Heath’s Parliament Hill on Saturday 17 November with the race marking the official opening of the 2019 London Youth Games season.

Athletes will compete across eight events, with prizes being awarded for individuals, team winners and overall borough female and male champions.

Organized in partnership with the South of England Athletic Association and the City of London Corporation, which manages the Heath, competitors representing their boroughs will race in male and female Under 11s, Under 13s, Under 15s and Under 17s races, with their results recorded and added towards an overall borough score to determine the male and female borough cross country champions.

This year Great British athlete and former five-time LYG cross-country champion, Sabrina Sinha, will present medals to the winning runners.

Bromley were victorious in the male and female cross-country events in 2016 but were beaten to the line by Wandsworth in the male category last season. What borough will reign victorious this year and be crowned Cross Country Champions 2019?

Jon Hughes, Chief Executive Officer of London Youth Games said:

“We are so excited for the 2019 Games Year to begin. Cross Country is a fantastic start to the season, with another 95 competitions across over 30 sports to follow.

“The London Youth Games truly enables young Londoners to achieve their best.

“Participants can look forward to high quality events and competitions which we hope will enable and inspire them to push themselves to find out just what they are capable of.”

Karina Dostalova, Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Hampstead Heath Management Committee, said:

“We are delighted to launch the first event of the 2019 annual London Youth Games.

“With every London borough taking part and communities from across the capital gathered at Parliament Hill, I’m certain the event will be a spectacular occasion for everyone.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for Londoners to embrace the sport and enjoy a healthy and active lifestyle.”

  1. Hi All,
Information does not include race times and distances.
Probably somewhere on another hidden page.
Surely it is easier to include all the information under one heading.

  2. Hello Terribly sorry to trouble the organisers!

Cannot find any info on race page about when individual races start for London Youth Games on Parliament Hill, only general times for when day begins and finishes.

Do you have any breakdown on the race times?

Best wishes for a successful day!
