The 2026 London Youth Games Volleyball Competition delivered a high-energy weekend on 30th and 31st May 2026, as 345 young people from across London came together at UEL SportsDock for a chance to compete against their peers from across London.

17 girls’ teams and 18 boys’ teams competed in round robin matches throughout the day, before moving into the knockout stages – with teams fiercely competing for a podium place.

The inclusion of volleyball at the London Youth Games has long provided a platform for future careers, with the likes of 2012 Olympians, Peter Bakare (Havering) and Dami Bakare (Wandsworth) and Yassir Sliti (Southwark) all benefitting from this competition at the start of their journeys.

Teams competed in round robin matches throughout the day before moving into the knockout stages.

Congratulations to the overall borough winners at the LYG Volleyball.

Mikeighla, Richmond girls volleyball player said “All the matches are very well organised and I think just the overall vibe is really nice. It’s really like that there’s a community, and all the London boroughs can come together and just enjoy sport, which I find very amazing.”

The LYG Volleyball event is part of our commitment to create life-changing opportunities for young Londoners through sport and physical activity. London Youth Games is the UK’s largest city-wide youth sports programme and for 49 years, the charity has supported young people’s personal, physical and emotional development.

Thank you to the officials who brilliantly supported the day, particularly our young umpires and scorers for their efforts. We are grateful to the BTO’s, Team Managers and parents for their support in making the day memorable for the players.
